Your Voice Matters

Healthwatch helps you to have your say about what matters to you in health and social care. Use your voice and experience to help make local services better for young people.

What is Healthwatch West Sussex Youth?

  • A forum where you can share your opinions and experiences of local health care.
  • Somewhere to find out information.
  • A place to share and develop ideas of what services could do to make health and care work better for you.

We have the power to make sure NHS leaders and other decision makers listen to your feedback and improve standards of care. Whatever it may be, message, email, or talk to us.

What young people in West Sussex have already told us matters to them:

  • Mental health – how to get help and how to help your friends
  • Advice on food and healthy eating
  • Communication with GP and how to get an appointment
  • Stigma from healthcare professions to the LGBTQ+ community
  • Not being listened to because you’re young
  • Who to ask for advice

What are we working on at the moment?

This year, young people have been advising us on our digital plans and have attended and facilitated meetings to keep youth voices loud and clear in West Sussex.

“It felt good…  I have so many ideas and I’m so passionate about it”.

“I really enjoyed it. It was great to meet so many stakeholders!”

Feedback about our youth volunteers has been glowing: “outstanding”, “insightful” and “have they considered youth cabinet?

Our links with Chichester College Group enabled young people to share their experiences of accessing healthcare as part of the LBGTQ+ community, as well as insight into where young people access health and wellbeing advice.

We’re also busy building our volunteer and employment opportunities – watch this space!
