HWiS poll results: Experiences of accessing Musculoskeletal (MSK) services in Sussex

Healthwatch in Sussex routinely carries out short polls to gather the views of local people. In May 2026, we asked about your experiences of accessing MSK services and what works well and what could be better.

These are the results.

Healthwatch in Sussex (HWiS) sought people’s experiences of accessing Musculoskeletal (MSK) services and what works well and what could be better.

162 people from across Sussex shared their views with us. 

We heard: 

  • 51.9% (83) respondents had been referred to the MSK Services by their GP, 38.8% (62) responders were self referred.
  • 14.7% (23) respondents were very satisfied compared to 26.9% (42) respondents who were very dissatisfied with the waiting time between referral and treatment.
  • 34.1% (54) respondents were very satisfied compared to 12.6% (20) respondents who were very dissatisfied with the quality of treatment or care received.
