Impact: Making a difference

• Our Healthwatch Manager escalated issues to colleagues, NHS Sussex, West Sussex County Council and partners and attended meetings with decision makers to help influence decisions and bring about positive change.
• Found 82% of people with a cancer diagnosis and those who support them, were not aware of cancer care reviews.
• Collected Sussex wide insight about your experiences of hospital discharge, Outpatient appointment letters and adult social care.

Supporting local people to navigate health and care

• Received 2,631 Enquiries to Helpdesk/frontline team through all channels.  
• Engaged with 20,276 local people and heard from you about what matters most, your experiences, priorities and what works well and health and social care services that are not meeting your needs.  

Local people are particularly concerned about:

• Treatment/Care 
• Waiting for appointments/treatment 
• Staffing/Staff attitudes

Independent Health Complaints Advocacy Service (IHCAS)

Healthwatch West Sussex runs the West Sussex Independent Health Complaints Advocacy Service (IHCAS) supporting local people of all ages with self-help.

IHCAS shared the most prevalent theme for complaints is ‘Treatment and Care’.
