Health and Social Care Select Committee Inquiry - Oral Evidence

Healthwatch West Sussex contributes feedback to the HSCSC's inquiry on 'Delivering Core NHS and Care Services during the Pandemic and Beyond'

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who shares their health and social care feedback, stories and experiences with us.

From your feedback, we were able to contribute towards Healthwatch England’s written evidence submission back in April to the HSCSC's (Health and Social Care Select Committee) inquiry on 'Delivering Core NHS and Care Services during the Pandemic and Beyond'.

Healthwatch England’s submission was of such high quality that our Chair, Sir Robert Francis was called to give oral evidence to the HSCSC on Tuesday 16th June.

Some of the topics he touched upon (in addition to the cancer, mental health and maternity services was included in the written evidence) were:

  • Hospital discharges
  • Digital appointments
  • Management of waiting lists
  • Shielding guidance
  • Accessible communications for the public

This was the final session of the inquiry before the HSCSC call up Simon Stevens, CEO of NHSE (and possibly also the Health Secretary/DHSC) before them to hold them to account and address the patient/public concerns that we have flagged. Thanks to all your ongoing support by sharing your stories and experiences with Healthwatch West Sussex.

You can watch the full session here (Sir Robert's session was on the second panel which you can skip to here).
