Pharmacy, 111 or 999 – what do I need?

We have designed a new 'business card', to keep you understand whether you need Pharmacy, NHS 111 or 999 emergency help.

Healthwatch West Sussex have been part of a group (including local people, Clinical Commissioning Groups, South East Coastal Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust) looking at the communication and engagement plans for the new NHS 111 and out of hours contract that starts in April 2020.

Our conversations with local people had showed there was a lack of knowledge about 111 and that people were confused about where to go.

We suggested there was a need to create a simple social media graphic/message that would link different public health campaigns and any communication for the new NHS 111 service.

With some simple wording from the Trust, our communications lead designed some graphics. We canvassed local people for their views on the design and to get the wording right. The result is a credit card size information card and posts for social media. There is a ‘Point of Sale’ display and plans for this to be on GP practice TV screens. These have also been shared nationally so they can be widely used.
