Services will be provided from premises in Chichester, Worthing, Bognor Regis, Horsham, East Grinstead, Haywards Heath and Crawley.

All bids underwent a rigorous evaluation process involving members of the NHS England local and regional dental, nursing, finance, information governance and human resources teams, dental practice advisers, Public Health England Consultants in Dental Public Health and NHS Business Services Authority orthodontic clinical advisers.

As part of the procurement process the Primary Care Commission asked for feedback on orthodontic services and received over 2000 responses from patients, members of the public and stakeholders.  All the feedback was considered and some adjustments made to the final details of the procurement as a result, such as the requirement to provide 30% of appointments outside of school hours which may include after-school, at weekends and during school holiday.

Bids were assessed against a number of factors including clinical and service delivery, premises and equipment, patient experience, clinical and information governance, staffing and the transfer of patients and how they would effectively mobilise the service to be ready to take on patients from April 2019.

Existing orthodontic contract holders who will no longer have a contract will continue to provide NHS orthodontic services to patients until 31st March 2019, however, from 1st April 2019 some patients will have their treatment transferred to a new provider.
