Message from Louise Ansari, Chief Executive, Healthwatch England

An update from Louise after attending 3 events in London.
Healthwatch England in London

"I attended three events in London last week to mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of the NHS. It was a pleasure to meet some of you at the Westminster Abbey service on Wednesday morning.

Last week was a chance to celebrate all that the NHS does for us. It was also a real opportunity to remember that ordinary people and healthcare professionals have a role to play in improving our NHS by sharing experiences of care, and listening to/acting on feedback that’s shared. If you haven’t already, please do take a few minutes to read these incredible stories of how feedback has led to better outcomes for people and communities. "

Strengthening a culture of listening in NHS services

In Healthwatch England's new strategy they said they would have an ongoing and building campaign on creating more of a culture of listening in health and social care. Highlighting the importance of listening on a panel discussion at the Kings Fund, Quality in a System Under Stress.

New models of collaboration and closer ways of working

To support the health and care services to be as effective as possible, Healthwatch England are working alongside NHS England to provide an opportunity for Healthwatch and ICS leads to share their learning and participate together as part of an Action Learning Set.

Collaboration with Dan from the Kings Fund

Interesting read of Louise's collaboration with Dan Wellings from the Kings Fund on the importance of collaboration and coordination with communities as central to improving the quality and reliability of local health systems.
