Supporting a safe return of family and friends to Care Homes

The government has recently published new guidance on care home visiting. Read more about the new guidance here.

We are delighted the Government has published new Guidance on care home
visiting.

It acknowledges that  'welcoming anyone into care homes from the community inevitably brings risk of COVID-19 transmission. However, these risks can be managed and mitigated, and they should be balanced against the importance of visiting and the benefits it brings to care home residents and their families.'

As a partnership (Carers Support West Sussex, Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Healthwatch West Sussex), we recognise that family and friends are not just “anyone” and many of you have shown such patience in the face of significant emotional and physical turmoil for yourselves and your cared for.

Read our report for information on what we think you need to know about the new guidance (testing, essential care givers, outdoor and 'screened' visits), and preparing for a visit.
