Together we Speak Louder

West Sussex charities work together to hold conference celebrating our local communities

Seven local charities that work with people across West Sussex are working together to hold a conference which celebrates our local voluntary and community sector.

‘Strong & Vibrant Communities in West Sussex’ is being held at Aldingbourne Country Centre on Thursday 22 November 2018, and the programme has representation from across the public, private, voluntary and community sector.

The day is intended as a platform to look at how working in partnership can, and does, result in better outcomes for people using health and social care services.

Through workshops showcasing some of the best examples of community-led projects and services, and through panel discussions, the conference hopes to unpick how organisations delivering services can be more involved in the design of services commissioned by local councils and other commissioning bodies.

The charities that are holding the conference are Independent Lives, Aldingbourne Trust, 4Sight, Age UK West Sussex, Healthwatch West Sussex, Sussex Oakleaf, and Carers Support, who provide a broad range of services across the county.

Rebecca Smicle, Chief Executive, Independent Lives said: “This is a great opportunity for those designing and commissioning services on behalf of our local community, to debate and identify how they can harness the expertise of organisations providing services. There are some amazing examples of best practice locally, that achieve positive outcomes for people using services, and we look forward to sharing them at the conference.’
